Major John Quigley joined Atlanta Police Department in 1992, and upon graduating from the Training Academy was assigned as a patrol officer in Zone 2. After two years in Zone 2, he was briefly assigned to the Planning and Research Unit to write policy for the department. In 1996 he was assigned as the Public Information Officer (PIO) and served in this capacity until 2005. Following his assignment as PIO, he served as a supervisor for two years in Zone 5, and served as an instructor and administrative sergeant at the Police Training Academy for 5 years. Upon promotion to Lieutenant he served as a Watch Commander in Zone 4, and as a Watch Commander in the Community Oriented Policing (COPS) Unit.
In January 2015 he was promoted to Captain and was assigned as the Executive Officer in the Strategy and Special Projects Division. In June 2016 he was promoted to Major and currently holds the same assignment.
A 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy, Major Quigley served 14 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Infantry prior to joining Atlanta Police Department.
