The Director of Community Engagement and Events is responsible for coordinating specific high profile police/community events, enhancing existing community focused initiatives and handling large scale internal morale boosting activities.   She has established relationships with relevant corporations, community-based organizations and individuals whose interests broadly align with the mission of the Atlanta Police Department to help make APD a models community policing city.

Police In the Park

What:              The Atlanta Police Department will be partnering with Vertical Church for “Police in the Park” and “Burgers and Backpacks.” The event will feature games for kids, backpack giveaways, health screenings, soccer demos, music, fire trucks, Atlanta Police Mounted Patrol, free haircuts and free burgers for attendees. Back packs with varying school supplies are given to children ages K-12th grade. A parent/ guardian must be present with the child to receive a backpack and supplies, with no exceptions. Backpacks and supplies will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

When:             Saturday, July 22, 2017, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. 

 

Where:           627 English Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30318 (old English Avenue Elementary School)

 

Who:               The Atlanta Police Department in partnership with Vertical Church and Atlanta Fire Rescue. Sponsors for this event include; CEI Hair Schools, Atlanta Lions Club, Soccer in the Streets, iHeartMedia Atlanta and the City of Atlanta Office of Emergency Preparedness.
