Deputy Chief Prenzinna Spann joined the Atlanta Police Department in 2001. After graduating from the Police Academy, she patrolled the streets in Zone 1, located in NW Atlanta. From there, she was appointed to Detective and has served the department and the community in every rank up to her current position of Deputy Chief. Her most notable assignments include Special Victims, Internal Affairs, Robbery, and the Gun Assault Team. 

Deputy Chief Spann has years of experience in investigations and organizational management. She is committed to the core values of the Atlanta Police Department - Professionalism, Integrity, Commitment, and Courage. She sacrifices selflessly to advocate and ensure the City of Atlanta's safety while embodying the profession's ethical standards and practices.  

Deputy Chief Spann is a transformational leader and mentor that believes in producing positive outcomes. Currently, Deputy Chief Spann serves as the Professional Development Division Commander. In this assignment, she oversees the Planning and Research/Accreditation Unit, Staff Inspections, Atlanta Retired Police Reserve, Atlanta Police Historical Society, Atlanta Police Leadership Institute, and the Training Academy. 

Deputy Chief Spann is a graduate of Talladega College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology, and a graduate of the Atlanta Police Department's Leadership Institute Tiers 3, 4, and 5. She is a native of Washington, DC, and a resident of Atlanta, Georgia.
