A native of Atlanta, Executive Director Arnold started her career more than 24 years ago on the front lines in the industry as a Communications Officer where she handled incoming 911 calls and dispatched police and fire to incident locations. Upon being released from training she was immediately assigned to work Zone 1 Evening Watch (3 years), Zone 4 Evening Watch (2 years), and later Zone 2 Evening Watch. During this time, she was nominated Best All Around Employee by her peers.
In 2010, she was promoted to Senior Communications Dispatcher where she trained new employees on call-taking and dispatch and worked in the capacity of a supervisor as needed. In 2013, she was offered and accepted the position of Airport 911 Supervisor where she managed the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at C4, assisted in training new employees, and was instrumental in creating and revising policy and procedure. During the first 6 months in this position, she was nominated and awarded Employee of the Quarter.
In 2014, she returned to Atlanta 911 Center as a Communications Supervisor. Upon her return she immediately recognized a need for an employee recognition program. She created the “Caught Red Handed” program as a way for employees to recognize themselves and their co-workers for attendance, courtesy, exemplary performance, etc. She was also a very active member of the Public Education Team where she went out into the community to educate citizens on how and when to use 911, Smart 911, and Text to 911.
In 2017, after becoming a POST Certified Instructor she accepted a position as an E-911 Training Coordinator Assistant. As a Training Coordinator Assistant, she continued to assist with supervisory duties, created lesson plans and instructed personnel on E911 call-taking, Active Shooter Incidents, and Text-to-911. She also worked as the Scheduling Administrator, Timekeeper, trained new Supervisors, headed the part-time employee program, and continued to be actively engaged in Public Education. She worked diligently on scheduling and planning the 2019 Superbowl ensuring that each shift was properly staffed during a 10-day time frame.
In 2019, she was promoted to E911 Communications Operations Manager. In this role, she was responsible for the supervision of the senior staff within the Communications Center. Her years of dedication and commitment to public service were used to help influence and implement policy and procedural changes. She implemented a 10-hour swing shift schedule to address staffing issues on the Evening Watch, restructured the Public Education Team, and assisted with reimplementing the Shift Manager position. She was also instrumental in assisting previous Directors achieve the overall mission and vision of the Center.
In July 2021 she was promoted to E911 Director where she is responsible for overseeing the operations of the 911 center which answers more than 1.2 million 911 calls annually and provides dispatch services for Atlanta Police and Atlanta Fire Rescue Departments.
She has proven to be successful in support of professional development for employees; as well as community engagement and outreach activities. She maintains a positive attitude; ambitious spirit and diligence that helps improve operations and motivate employees. She is extremely passionate in her mission to meet and exceed all challenges. She was awarded APD Female Civilian Supervisor of the Year (2018), E911 Administrator of the Year (2019), and E911 Manager of the Year (2020).
Mrs. Arnold received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Georgia Military College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She continued her education with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with Cum Laude honors, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Brenau University. Additionally, she is a member of Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (A.P.C.O.) and National Emergency Number Association (N.E.N.A). Director Arnold is the wife of Atlanta Fire and Rescue Captain Arnold they are proud parents and grandparents.
