On Thursday, October 28, 2021 an Atlanta police officer spotted a reported carjacked black Lexus sedan in the area of Harwell Rd NW and Martin Luther King Jr Dr. NW.  Officers followed the vehicle and when additional units arrived in the area, the officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of 2798 Peek Rd NW.  While the officer was outside of their patrol car, the suspect put the carjacked vehicle into reverse striking the patrol car and pinning the officer between the two vehicles. 

An additional officer on scene witnessed this and discharged their weapon towards the carjacked vehicle before it fled the scene.  The officer pinned sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.  The suspect vehicle was located a short distance away unoccupied. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) was requested to the scene to investigate the incident. The investigation continues.
