Preliminary Statement: On February 9, 2023, at approximately 6:16 pm, officers responded to a report of two people shot at 3005 Peachtree Rd NE. Upon arrival, officers located two male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both victims were alert, conscious, and breathing and were transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Preliminary Investigation indicates the shooting occurred during a dispute over a narcotics transaction. Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Shortly afterward, units apprehended a possible suspect. The Investigation continues.

Update: Carlos Benitez (DOB 11/98) was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with intent to Murder and possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony. Benitez was transported to the Fulton County Jail. 

Both victims (adult) remain in the hospital at this time.
