Post Date:09/07/2023 11:06 AM

On 9-07-2023, at around 9:30 AM, 5 individuals trespassed onto the site of the City of Atlanta's future Public Safety Training Center and chained themselves to a piece of construction equipment. Atlanta Police Officers quickly responded and took the 5 suspects into custody without incident. Around the same time, approximately 25 people gathered outside the site to protest. Protestors also posted a request for additional people to come and show their support of the protest.

Additional resources were moved to the site and our local, state and federal law enforcement partners provided support to ensure the 1st Amendment rights and the safety of protestors was protected, as well as to ensure the work site remained safe and secure as work continued on the training center. Protestors began leaving the area around 11:00 AM and no additional incidents were reported.
